Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the reasons it may be used, and the limited situations in which another party may receive it. By using Klickitat County Criminal History, you accept the practices stated below.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider handles the query and supplies its result. We do not keep a separate log of those search terms.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email sent to us may be retained to prepare and document a response. It is not shared outside our organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, servers may collect routine technical details about the visit:

  • Page-view times and visit duration
  • Device type and operating system
  • Referring website, when supplied
  • Browser name and version
  • Pages opened during the visit
  • Internet Protocol address

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show aggregate use, such as popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers assist with that measurement. A browser can block cookies, though doing so may change how some site functions behave.

What We Do With This Data

  • Diagnosing faults and maintaining security
  • Routing a query to the selected search partner
  • Measuring which content visitors use
  • Operating the site and improving load performance
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Klickitat County Criminal History does not keep, compile, or sell a personal criminal-record database. It provides general directions to the Klickitat County Sheriff's Office, county courts, Washington State Patrol, and the Washington Sex Offender Public Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a file about another person. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted there is governed by that partner's privacy policy. Each provider controls its retention and disclosure practices, so review those terms before running a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to the Klickitat County sheriff, court portals, Washington agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. After leaving this site, the destination's own privacy policy applies. Check it before providing personal information.

Advertising companies may use their systems to track activity across websites for targeted advertising.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal data. Information may be disclosed to:

  • Advertising networks that place ads
  • Search providers that process a submitted query
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
  • Analytics providers that measure use and performance

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable security measures are used to protect collected data. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, and we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.

Users Under 18

The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. Information known to have been submitted by a minor will be deleted.

Your Data Rights

Washington law includes the Public Records Act, chapter 42.56 RCW, and the Criminal Records Privacy Act, chapter 10.97 RCW. Those laws govern government-held public records and criminal-history dissemination, not this private site's routine analytics data. Other applicable law may provide additional rights. At a minimum, you may:

  • Request deletion of data associated with you
  • Ask what personal data we retain
  • Seek correction of inaccurate data
  • Object to certain forms of processing

Updates to This Policy

This privacy policy may change. Any revised policy will appear here with a new effective date, and continued use will be subject to the posted version.
